What is the meaning behind these tattoos
What is the meaning of dream catchers?
Dream catchers were originally created by American Indians. They consist of a wooden hoop, covered with a web of natural fibres, as well as hanging beads and feathers. Authentic dream catchers are made only with natural materials. They are believed to have originated from the Ojibwe tribe specifically. Their word for dream catcher literally translated as “spider” and the tribe believed that spiders are a symbol of comfort and protection. They believed in a “Spider Woman”, who watched over the tribe and, especially, mothers and their babies. The legend says that she is the one who created the first dream catcher and gave it to the tribe as a symbol of protection and a sign that she will always watch over them. It is believed that when you hang a dream catcher over a child’s bed, it will chase away the bad dreams.
